Choreographic Journal: Choreography evaluation of assignmemt



Wednesday 15th October

After doing my dance I felt I did well. My strengths for the performance were that I remember my dance all the way though and felt I dance it with the feeling I was in a library because I wanted people to know how I feel about being in the library. I may also glad I didn't have music because I would of ruined the atmosphere I wanted to created.
My weakness would be that I didn't explain why I choose my stimuli properly and I felt like it throw me off my dance a little bit because I worried that they wouldn't understand my dance. I felt I did some of my movements uncertainly because I was worried I didn't remember right. If I did it again I would improve the confident about doing the movements because I felt I did some movement uncertainly. I would add a few move moves that I would of developed from the first section. Like maybe pushing against the shelves I could of move my hands so they were different levels instead of the same level. If I could find a steady clock sound I could have that playing in the back ground of a noise of the other side world like traffic that would play the drift out and come back at the end.

Choreographic Journal: Sixth Lesson



Wednesday 8th October

The lesson this week was hard to work as we were all in the studio which made it move and work out the dance, so I thought I would talk to Laura about it and she say instant of working on creating a new sections use the beginning, adding levels and different angles.
So I was thinking of using levels and do my beginning again but makes it so it’s floor work. I was thinking when I’m on the floor I could kneel with one knee on the ground, the other up facing the sky and reach forward and reach my left leg back and then turn so the other leg knee is on the floor and reach away from the audience. Like this

After this bit I thought I would make up a small routine for my arms as in my begininng I act like I putting books away so I would knee down and use the arms in this picture, and I created this arms movement. Then end my dance with taking a book of the shelf and opening it and start reading it.
 



thinking about how I would finish my dance I thought I would end at the beginning, so I would end it with what I did first to start it but adding at the end  me taking a book and reading it. I thought it would be creative idea because when you finish a book and take it back to the library and you start the whole process again about finding a book.

I was thinking about add in a small section to go right at the beginning like pull a book off the shelve and start reading it because I was think about with different books you get the same feeling after reading them so I wanted to show that sometimes reading books is like an never ending circle but I don't want my stimuli to be  a book.  I think I need to keep the beginning I have so it focus more on a library then a book because I don't want to do the same thing as I did when I was thinking abut have a book for a prop.

Choreographic Journal: Fifth Lesson

Wednesday 1st October

We didn't have a dance lesson this week because will from joy of sound came in to give us a talk, so I had to make time for practising my dance, I've got my main dance movements but I need to think about how to travel to each of them. I going to start with researching dance movement pierce to see if they can give me any ideas. I could really find any that would go with my dance so I thought I would look at my picture and see if I can use any of the people pose to find movement I could use to travel.
I found I could use the child pushing against the bookshelf and change it different levels and angles. I found using that movement, I could go easily in to spins following on to swing my arms up and down and using the bend legs to trace a circle on the floor.

I could use this travelling to move to my next section of movement as the audience would know that we are going in to the next section. After practising my dance thought I feel I would use this section once in my dance as it will last a long time if I do it between each movement, I going to add it in once.


Here a video of my dance so far, I'm planning to work on the next two sections in next week’s lesson. And focus on this section to get it right and looking strong in how performance it. After looking at the video I feel I can improve on the turning and making sure I'm confident about what I'm doing because I stop a couple of times because I forget what I'm doing next.
